Onyx 14x10mm Smooth Oval Semi Precious Beads Per Strand

Each bead varies in size, shape and color no two beads are exactly alike. Because these are natural stone beads, each one has its own character including crackling, inclusions, chips, etc... These beads are all center drilled, with the occasional bead having a slightly off center hole. These beads measure about 14mm long by 10mm wide by 5mm thick and the holes measure about .5mm to 1mm in diameter. The strand measures about 7.5" inches long and there are approximately 14 beads on a strand.Onyx is the term given for any form of Chalcedony that is either a solid black color or a banded black-and-white color. Black agates with white bands are distinct from Onyx in that they have curved or non-parallel stripes - Onyx only has parallel bands. Onyx is sometimes considered a precious gem, and it is especially prized by gem carving artists in the creation of cameos. Most Onyx on the market today has been treated or dyed to enhance the black color and make the color uniform throughout the stone.
